EVENTS: Mapping Nature: Gallipoli Leads Biodiversity Research for the PREBIODUNES Project

The Municipality of Gallipoli, a proud partner of the PREBIODUNES project, is actively advancing its environmental research efforts. Currently, extensive mapping of vegetation and wildlife species is underway at Lido Conchiglie, the designated Italian pilot site.
As part of this work, an in-depth drone survey has been conducted, covering the entire study area and capturing critical data from a bird’s-eye view. The first datasets on local plant and animal species have already been collected, while the chorological (geographic distribution) characterization of the site is still ongoing, offering valuable insights into the ecological richness of the area.
To ensure coordinated progress, a meeting was organized on April 23rd with the WP1 Lead (University of Rijeka, UniHR) and the Lead Coordinator (Polytechnic University of Bari, Poliba). This meeting served to provide a brief but crucial update on the current status of activities and to align next steps in the project’s roadmap.
The research at Lido Conchiglie marks an important milestone for biodiversity conservation and sustainable coastal management under the PREBIODUNES framework.
